Maltose Spare Ribs


Ingredients
  1. 600 gm spare ribs
  2. sesame seeds (toasted)

Marinade

  1. 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  2. 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. dash of pepper
  5. 2 tbsp corn flour
  6. 1 egg

Sauce

  1. 2 tbsp maltose
  2. 1 tsp honey
  3. dash of chicken stock granules
  4. 1/2 tsp salt
  5. 100 ml water

To cook

  1. Mix the meat with marinade for overnight.
  2. Deep fry spare rib in hot oil till golden brown and set aside.
  3. Heat up 1 tsp oil, add in sauce and bring to boil till sauce is thicken.
  4. Return spare ribs and mix well. Dish up and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

what is maltose?

it's a sort of 'mak nga' they call it in cantonese or 'caramel'. it's selling in white round can with red cover on top. written 'maltosa'. sweet taste

where can i get maltose? or can i replaced maltose with marmite?

hooi see,
no, maltose and marmite is different taste. but there are recipe for marmite chicken, will need use maltose as well. i have cook this b4, will cook again and blog it.
for maltose, try find it at kedai runcit, they shd have, selling around rm 2+, if i remember will snap the pic and show here. (ageing, thats y easily forgets) :p

oh great, you have the receipe for marmite chicken! i always wanted to try this but too bad, can't find the recipe. do share with us ya!
